LiveUpdate permits an installed Symantec product to connect to a Symantec server automatically for application and virus definitions updates. LiveUpdate connects through either a preset telephone number or an FTP site; however, two issues have arisen at corporate sites: High network traffic: Administrators want to reduce external traffic by having users download from an internal site. Firewall issues: LiveUpdate establishes an FTP connection to a Symantec server. In some cases, this implementation requires modification to firewall software.
